Overall rating 7.8/10, based on 300 renter reviews Write a review
E2 Apartments reviews and highlights
- parking is expensive
- best amenities in Evanston
- social gatherings on the deck
- loud in the summer
- incredibly safe, secure building
- great view of lake michigan
- brand new building with lots of kellogg students
- gym is small
- elevators are constantly breaking down
- free workout classes
- rent is a bit high
They made some weird trade-offs
The best thing about E2 is that so many people live there it's so easy to get people to visit and come to you. I think especially because it gets cold that's important.
That said, it is probably not the nicest or the cheapest building. It is just the most convenient.

Best Idea
Living in an E2 Townhouse has the benefit of the E2 social scene and amenities without the pain point of the elevators. However, there is an ongoing confusion with US Postal Service and the Doormen about how to exactly list your mailing address. Additionally, the E2 Townhouse is on the ground floor which does not allow for a lot of privacy.
On the other hand, E2 Townhouse is the perfect place to host friends, as the entire first floor is public space and all bedrooms are on the second and third floors.

Community and Amenities are great, but they cut corners in the apartments
E2 looks great on the outside, great pool and bball court. But in the apartments, the paint is cheap, the rooms are small, and the lighting is very poor. Its a great community with lots of people to hang out with, but the apartments aren't the greatest

Worth it for the amenities
Comparing the building to other similars (ParkEvanston, Evanston Place and Centrum), you have great amenities for very similar price.

Good option for students
E2 is a great building, the amenities are some of the best in Evanston. The building is filled with Kellogg students, so it is very common to meet friends in the elevator, go to another floor for a group project, or just a few apartments over for a dinner party. The apartments are very well equipped, and maintained. Maintenance staff is very responsive and they will come usually within a few hours if you ever need anything. **However, the concierge are rude (there have been a bunch of changes in personel now, and the people who have come now are clueless - it's like they never even went through training), packages are sometimes lost (and the response to this is often "we don't care"), and management is incredibly unresponsive. Overall, I would say come if you find a low rent in an apartment, but it is not worth it if your options are overpriced.

Not worth it
Do not think the value received is worth the premium

Pricey but I'm happy with value
Internet problems especially in common areas but our unit had it's issues addressed. Ammenities are nice but you have to pay to rent common spaces. Clean modern and staff is generally pretty helpful. Maintenance is always quick.

Review
The camaraderie in the building is strong, but the management company is very frustrating to work with.

Love it here
I love living in E2. Great apartments, great closet space, but terrible bathroom setup/storage. The gym is also very limited. I wish the apartments were a bit cheaper, but I enjoy the social aspect of the building and the amenities it provides.
