Large Apartment for the Area

I lived at Columbia Plaza for 3.5 years (first in a two-bedroom apartment in the Ambassador building with my law school roommate, and then in a one-bedroom apartment in the Baron building with my husband), and I just moved out a few months ago. I had my ups and downs with management (I had to really stay on them to have them fix one issue I was having), but overall, I had a very good experience living here.

In general, the apartments are MUCH larger than other apartments in the area. Some units have redone kitchens, which are very nice, but even those kitchens that haven't been redone are spacious with lots of cabinet space. Individual units do not have washers and dryers, but each building has a card-operated laundry room (add money to the laundry card, use the laundry card to pay).

The parking garage allows hourly parking, or you can pay for a designated spot (I didn't do this, but I think it costs around $200-$250 per month).

There is one front desk that is manned 24/7, and it is in the Consul building. So, if you have packages delivered, you will need to pick them up from that building (even if you live in a different building). The gym is also in the Consul building. It was newly redone while I was living there, and it is quite nice!

The plaza around which the apartment buildings are situated has a small market, restaurants, and a dry cleaner. It's also within walking distance (probably an average of 4-5 blocks) of more restaurants and Whole Foods, and it's only 8 blocks to the office!

Pretty nice apartment

This apartment is decent. I got one of the newly renovated ones though so I don't know what the older styles are like. I had brand new or like-new appliances.. The worst thing about this apartment is that management turns on the AC way too late into the spring so the apartments get SO SO SO hot and you can't do anything about it.

Good enough to live here all 3 years of law school

Other than some pests, which Management sprayed for within 24 hours of my notification, I like my apartment enough to live here all 3 years of law school. The walls themselves are thick where you don't hear your neighbors but you do hear some activity in the hallway. I have a huge walk in closet, lots of storage space, and it's big enough for a couch, bed, dining room table, and two rocking chairs to comfortably fit.

Great Value

All appliances were brand new. Bathroom and kitchen were pristine— nothing fancy, but definitely worth the value. The maintenance crew works incredibly quickly responding to any issues you may have. WiFi was very easy to set up because they have a dedicated Comcast representative. Hot and cold water work great. Water pressure is great. The ONLY problem I have with the place is the elevators run extremely slow. Very small price to pay for the great location and service.

No complaints, good access to campus

Nothing about living at Columbia Plaza would make me warn others against living here. It is a short walk to campus. It’s a quiet complex generally but you are free to make whatever level of noise you want. Maintenance does a great job responding to requests. Washer/dryer are shared with your floor, but it’s rarely unavailable when I want to use it. We are far from the good nightlife areas, but obviously Uber and Lyft were created for a reason! I would overall recommend this place to others.

Nice but nothing good around

It’s very clean and nice and reasonably priced. Close to campus. But not really any restaurants or nightlife around.

Great value

Pretty nice apartment right near campus. All utilities are included, full gym on site. Right near metro, Whole Foods, bus stop, cvs. Not too noisy either.

Lots of pretty row homes, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, and my school. Lots of trees and a dog park near-by. Overall, very pretty and scenic to walk through, and also close to other neighborhoods and essential stores.
I like living in Foggy, it's easy to get to school but also is close to Georgetown, which is fun for food and shopping. The northern part of Foggy (near GW) is about 10 minute walk to Dupont too, which is great.
Short walk to Georgetown, West End, and Dupont Circle. Many restaurants nearby and close to metro so you can get to anywhere in the city conveniently.
Nice to be so close to school. Short walk from the mall and other tourist destinations. Bar/restaurant/night life scene leaves a lot to be desired.
It is really close to campus so a lot of GW folks live here! You can reach a lot of places on public transit.
I personally enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood and its location within a close walking distance of campus, Georgetown, the water, and convenience/grocery stores. The neighborhood is also very safe, I am a woman in my early 20's and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night near my apartment.
Foggy Bottom is a great place to live given the proximity to the law school. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle which are fun places to go out with friends and classmates. It's also has lots of bike racks for the Capital Bikeshare nearby, and the Foggy Bottom metro stop is a few blocks up the street.
A lot of college kids around but still not to noisy. Some food places a 5 to 8 minute walk away. Also a block away from Tonic, which is a great, cheap happy hour place for drinks, burgers, and tater tots. It seems pretty safe. Love the short walk to GW though (4 or 5 minutes).
