great place

This apartment complex is very quiet. They are good about communication. It is a condominium so each apartment is owned by an individual not by the management company. Thus, some of the people that live here are older and working, and others are students. They recently redid the lobby and the carpeting in the hallways. They also repainted all the doors. There is a pool, but it has not been open since before I moved in. They recently updated their basement laundry services and now it is all mobile, which is nice.

Perfect for GW Law Students

Letterman House is perfect for GW law students. It's situated on a beautiful street and it's a 2-minute walk away from the law school. A lot of GW law students and other GW grad students live here and they're conscientious about noise levels. The only cons are the sounds from the undergrad students partying outside at night on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the management is just so-so (it's not very professional and they aren't very responsive), and the guy at the front desk isn't very friendly.

Great Location

I really enjoy living so close to campus - the short walk makes living in a studio worth it. These units are rented out individually, so your landlord is different than the company managing the building, which can cuase complications. The walls are thick, so you'll never hear noise from neighbors, but if your unit faces the street, it does tend to get loud.

Spacious Apartment Close to School - Old Building

I have overall really enjoyed my experience in the Letterman. The apartment is huge for a D.C. apartment, we get lots of light, and we are only about 5 minute walk from the law school. Overall it is great for a student apartment. The one downside is that the building has been dealing with leaky pipes, so we intermittently end up with water damage on the walls. The building management fixes it each time mostly efficiently, but the leaks can still be a bit annoying.

Good Apartment for Location

I enjoyed living in Letterman because of its proximity to campus and dowtown DC. The location is excellent for going to school and getting to other areas like Dupont or Georgetown. The apartment itself is probably on the lower end for cost in Foggy Bottom, however its still expensive. The building itself is average with basic amenities and my studio was satisfactory in size. It is nothing special but I don't have any complaints either.

No Frills But Comfortable

All the apartments are different levels because they are condos. But all seem to have lots of closet space and large windows. I have found myself either getting too hot or cold and I don't have control over it (even though there is a thermostat in the apartment). Overall, management is nice, apartments are decent, and the building is close to the campus, just don't expect any other extra frills.

Letterman Review

This apartment is a condominium so I rent from the person who owns the apartment not the manager. Parking was an additional cost and my lease said no pets. That being said, I have seen pets in the building. You have to pay monthly for parking. However, it is in a great location, especially for students at GW. The building itself is quiet, though there are some frats across the street and undergraduate dorms around it. It has all the noise of a typical city. The apartment was spacious and priced well given the location. My landlord has been great about responding to things in the apartment. There is no gym. I had ants for about a month this year, but I haven’t had anything other than that.

Great Location

The best thing about this apartment is its location to the monuments and to GW Law School. Very thick walls, so I never hear noise from other apartments, but I live right on an intersection with lots of windows in my unit, so it can get a little loud. I haven't had any issues with management, pests, package pickup, or security, which has been great. Recent remodel makes the hallways and lobby feel really nice.

Lots of pretty row homes, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, and my school. Lots of trees and a dog park near-by. Overall, very pretty and scenic to walk through, and also close to other neighborhoods and essential stores.
I like living in Foggy, it's easy to get to school but also is close to Georgetown, which is fun for food and shopping. The northern part of Foggy (near GW) is about 10 minute walk to Dupont too, which is great.
Short walk to Georgetown, West End, and Dupont Circle. Many restaurants nearby and close to metro so you can get to anywhere in the city conveniently.
Nice to be so close to school. Short walk from the mall and other tourist destinations. Bar/restaurant/night life scene leaves a lot to be desired.
It is really close to campus so a lot of GW folks live here! You can reach a lot of places on public transit.
I personally enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood and its location within a close walking distance of campus, Georgetown, the water, and convenience/grocery stores. The neighborhood is also very safe, I am a woman in my early 20's and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night near my apartment.
Foggy Bottom is a great place to live given the proximity to the law school. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle which are fun places to go out with friends and classmates. It's also has lots of bike racks for the Capital Bikeshare nearby, and the Foggy Bottom metro stop is a few blocks up the street.
A lot of college kids around but still not to noisy. Some food places a 5 to 8 minute walk away. Also a block away from Tonic, which is a great, cheap happy hour place for drinks, burgers, and tater tots. It seems pretty safe. Love the short walk to GW though (4 or 5 minutes).
