Once you are in, you are stuck

Once you take this, very hard to change apartments. So be sure before taking this.

Old building; but one of the closest to the hub

Pros:
1. Fully furnished
2. Very close to the hub
3. No hassle for international students
4. Realtively cheaper
5. All utilities included
6. Responsive maintenance
7. Very secure

Cons:
1. Old building - furniture is good but rest can feel vintage
2. No dishwasher; Washer and dryer in a common place in the ground floor
3. Pets not allowed
4. Heating system is centralised. So little control. Can end up feeling slightly cold in the worst days of winter.

Not worth it

While the convenience of the lease terms and the low cost relative to the area are attractive, the building is outdated and the apartment is basically a former dormitory. The apartment is minimal and there are a number of things wrong with it (e.g., terrible kitchen, lack of consistent heat, lack of consistent water pressure) and the overall process is frustrating, namely the inability to receive packages except when the front desk is occupied, which is very infrequent. The terrible accomodations outweigh the potential benefits.

McManus housing - not worth it

Grad housing is not worth the money you are paying. There are other much better options available for the same price.
I would not recommend it, try out Centrum and OHO as better alternatives

Mcmansion

If you went to school in India, McManus is a 100 times better than any hostel that you're used to. Convenience trumps everything else.

Convenient but HIGH HIGH Price with Low Quality

McManus is convenient because it is a dorm for Kellogg students only and many of your classmates live there. Also, there are meeting rooms, which are used for a lot of group meetings, and printers. During winter months, not walking out to meetings is nice.

However, the place is very very old with minimum maintenance. I had many problems. My wooden drawers in kitchen is so old that I do not feel comfortable putting plates in them. Some cabinets doors do not close so tape is used to hold them in place. The list can go on and on. Lastly, for a studio, I am paying over $1400 a month. That is a ridiculous price to charge while not maintaining the place to be in a good shape.

Convenient

Certainly not the fanciest or most modern place, but it's super convenient and nice fellow Kellogg residents!

Be aware of the trade-off

McManus is the most convenient option by far: it is close to campus, includes all bills and utilities in the price, there is a streamlined payment process through Kellogg's standard tuition payment portal, apartments are furnished, and there are printers and study rooms available within the building. However, the building is old and all of the positives do come at a trade-off! Some apartments have very little sunlight and the furniture in the units is old and sometimes stained. It's not a deal breaker, but just make sure you are comfortable with this too.

Downtown Evanston has everything you need. E2 is walkable to campus, a Target, and plenty of restaurants, as well as Metra and L stations to get to Chicago. Right across the street is a Subway, a Thai restaurant, and a pizza place, plus there’s a 7-Eleven about a block away, so you’re very close to options if you need food in a pinch.
Close to downtown Evanston but a bit far from E2/the reserve. One of closest apartments to Trader Joes/Whole Foods/Jewel Osco while also being close to campus. Very close to the lake!
Downtown Evanston has everything you need from a downtown including grocery stores, restaurants, and convenience stores.
Downtown Evanston is great - plenty of great food within walking distance, Metra and El trains right nearby, a really nice place to be. Only downside is it's far from school and the only truly walkable grocery store is a Whole Foods, which can get expensive. Overall, wouldn't want to live elsewhere though.
Close to grocery stores and restaurants. Very easy access to Lake Michigan as well!
There isn't much to do here, but that's true pretty much everywhere in Evanston. We're in walking distance to all of "downtown" Evanston, so restaurants / fast food / subway, etc. It's a slightly longer walk than desired to Kellogg, but that's fine.
The apartment is central to downtown and is walking distance to most bars, restaurants, shops, beach, etc. Evanston is a bit of a sleepy town (especially during the pandemic...I've been told it was much more vibrant pre-pandemic).
I live just south of the main downtown area, and it's the perfect intersection of being close to the action but also a bit removed when you want some quiet. I like being a in a more residential pocket, so there is slightly less foot traffic and really nice areas to walk around with a dog, etc.
