Good quality for the price

Pretty cheap if you compare to other buildings in Evanston. The apartment is nice (loads of natural light pouring in!) and very very spacious. Never cold in the winter and well air-conditioned in the summer. Only bummer is that no pets are allowed. There are a lot of Kellogg people in the building.

Wonderful Management & an Evanston Bargain

I couldn't be happier with my decision to rent at 1500 Chicago Ave. during my two years in grad school at Kellogg. My 1BR/1BA is very spacious, has a lot of natural light, and costs significantly less than the apartments in the newer buildings in the Evanston neighborhood. In addition, management here is wonderful. Any maintenance request I submit is answered in a matter of hours, and all the common areas are spotless and well-maintained. Lastly, the location is pretty ideal. While about a mile from the Kellogg Hub, it is close to grocery stores and coffee shops in downtown Evanston.

Great cost-benefit, great location

The building is a bit older than other options, however the plant is big, and maintenance is great - we never had any problems.
Location is excellent, 18min walk to Kellogg, 5 to Whole Foods, 10 to Jewel Osco and Trader Joes, close to all restaurants downtown.
It has a small gym (treadmills only). Very warm during winter.
Overall, don't expect the modern feel of the newer (more expensive) options, but if you're looking for a great bang for your buck, this is the best option in Evanston (that I could find, at least).

Great Location

Close to all the shops and bars in Evanston. A bit dated but quiet and one of the less expensive options for Kellogg students.

Highly Recommended - Best Apartments for Price

I love my apartment. It's spacious, comfortable, everything I need. Great location! ~20 min walk/5 min bike ride to Kellogg Global Hub. Near a bunch of restaurants and bars in downtown Evanston, a few minute walk to Whole Foods, close to Trader Joes and Jewel Osco as well. Slightly older building, but they do a good job maintaining. The bathroom is a bit small and outdated, but kitchen is newly renovated and nice. Carpet flooring with "wood" in kitchen. A couple things I had to get used to, like wall-mounted AC (though there is central heating), no bathroom fan, and old curtain fixtures... but things I got used to really quickly, and small price to pay for all the benefits and great price!!

Loving it.

Love it, management's very nice and prompt.
Note that the thermostats in the rooms are kind of fake - they definitely don't make the apartments warmer.
But the air conditioners work great!!
Shuttle's right outside for when it's frigid or when you need to go to Chicago.
Lots of students living here though not as many as E2 and Park Evanston - but that's kind of refreshing.

Downtown Evanston Reviews

Downtown Evanston has everything you need. E2 is walkable to campus, a Target, and plenty of restaurants, as well as Metra and L stations to get to Chicago. Right across the street is a Subway, a Thai restaurant, and a pizza place, plus there’s a 7-Eleven about a block away, so you’re very close to options if you need food in a pinch.
Close to downtown Evanston but a bit far from E2/the reserve. One of closest apartments to Trader Joes/Whole Foods/Jewel Osco while also being close to campus. Very close to the lake!
Downtown Evanston has everything you need from a downtown including grocery stores, restaurants, and convenience stores.
Downtown Evanston is great - plenty of great food within walking distance, Metra and El trains right nearby, a really nice place to be. Only downside is it's far from school and the only truly walkable grocery store is a Whole Foods, which can get expensive. Overall, wouldn't want to live elsewhere though.
Close to grocery stores and restaurants. Very easy access to Lake Michigan as well!
There isn't much to do here, but that's true pretty much everywhere in Evanston. We're in walking distance to all of "downtown" Evanston, so restaurants / fast food / subway, etc. It's a slightly longer walk than desired to Kellogg, but that's fine.
The apartment is central to downtown and is walking distance to most bars, restaurants, shops, beach, etc. Evanston is a bit of a sleepy town (especially during the pandemic...I've been told it was much more vibrant pre-pandemic).
I live just south of the main downtown area, and it's the perfect intersection of being close to the action but also a bit removed when you want some quiet. I like being a in a more residential pocket, so there is slightly less foot traffic and really nice areas to walk around with a dog, etc.
