Claridge House

So far, so good! I have not had any problems with pests and the only issues I have had in the apartment (e.g. bathroom sink leaking) were fixed ASAP and haven't recurred. There are huge windows, which I enjoy for all the sunlight, the walls seem to be thick enough, and you have control of your own AC/heat.

The amenities are great. I love having the pool and gym on site. Packages are also safe, being delivered directly to the front desk.

It's also a great spot if you're attending GW SMHS or you're working at the hospital. It's only about a 5-7 min walk.

My only complaints: there are a TON of mosquitoes right outside the front door of the building, and the garage is a tight squeeze if you plan to pay for parking here.

Also: Note that each unit is individually owned, so your experience will also depend on your landlord and the specific changes they've made within their own units.

Great living space especially for first year medical students

Great building, nice gym and printing amenities, outdoor spaces with grills and tables for eating, pool on rooftop very nice too. Drawback is that laundry is not in-unit, have to go to basement or certain floors for it. Maintenance staff very nice, front desk staff great and helpful, management of the building is very good. Apartments are decent sized for price and location being near medical school and hospital. Good security as well. Not much closet space or kitchen space but this can depend on what unit you get.

Great location, nice place, decent rent

It has been great because I like the unit and it is very easy to get to class. It's clean and nice and updated and has a patio and pool. The gym is small and not very new but it's fine.

It's meh

Each unit is managed by their own owner-as a result each unit is very different from one another. Some are great, some are terrible. Mine is meh.. old and outdated and doubt they're renovating any time soon, so I'll be moving out soon. Overall, good value for the money and being close to GW campus and Trader Joes, but not a whole lot else.

Convenient place to live for med students

Claridge is great for students. It's in a great location very close to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and the GWU Hospital/Ross Hall. It is safe even at night because there is someone at the front desk 24/7. Parking, like anywhere in DC, is expensive, around $200 a month. Laundry is not in-unit and expensive ($1.90/wash, $1.90/dry), but accessible. The gym is small, but not crowded. The pool is only open for a limited time (summer season), which may not be ideal for all residents. Rent is unit dependent, but likely won't be your cheapest option. Haven't had any problems with rodents. No problems with heating.

Great location

Claridge is a co-op, so each unit will look different. I like my unit; it was updated recently so the kitchen and bathroom are relatively nice. I have a really big closet space for a studio apartment. The location is great, it's close to school but not right next door like some other housing options may be. The street is nice and quiet, and the front desk concierge and management are kind. Haven't had any issues with rats/mice/bugs.

Claridge House

Nice location but expensive; very close to the hospital, GWU, the metro, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods. There are issues with the pipes and they are frequently shutting the water off. There is a gym but the equipment is pretty old. No issues with rodents or pests.

Lots of pretty row homes, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, and my school. Lots of trees and a dog park near-by. Overall, very pretty and scenic to walk through, and also close to other neighborhoods and essential stores.
I like living in Foggy, it's easy to get to school but also is close to Georgetown, which is fun for food and shopping. The northern part of Foggy (near GW) is about 10 minute walk to Dupont too, which is great.
Short walk to Georgetown, West End, and Dupont Circle. Many restaurants nearby and close to metro so you can get to anywhere in the city conveniently.
Nice to be so close to school. Short walk from the mall and other tourist destinations. Bar/restaurant/night life scene leaves a lot to be desired.
It is really close to campus so a lot of GW folks live here! You can reach a lot of places on public transit.
I personally enjoy the quietness of the neighborhood and its location within a close walking distance of campus, Georgetown, the water, and convenience/grocery stores. The neighborhood is also very safe, I am a woman in my early 20's and I have never felt unsafe walking home late at night near my apartment.
Foggy Bottom is a great place to live given the proximity to the law school. It's also within walking distance of Georgetown and Dupont Circle which are fun places to go out with friends and classmates. It's also has lots of bike racks for the Capital Bikeshare nearby, and the Foggy Bottom metro stop is a few blocks up the street.
A lot of college kids around but still not to noisy. Some food places a 5 to 8 minute walk away. Also a block away from Tonic, which is a great, cheap happy hour place for drinks, burgers, and tater tots. It seems pretty safe. Love the short walk to GW though (4 or 5 minutes).
