Overall great!
There are some quirks that don’t appeal to my style and there are times when you can hear your neighbors or people in the hall pretty clearly, but overall it is a really good place to live while attending SLU Law! You can’t beat the convenience of living right next to the law school, especially when the weather is bad!

Pros and cons... but mostly pros
Park Pacific has the best location, if you are looking to be close to the law school. The building is literally across the street. So, it is very convenient for those who like to go home for lunch or to take a break between classes. Also, if you are not from St. Louis and don't want to worry about driving everyday or hate traveling in bad weather.
At first I thought the price of Park Pacific was ridiculous (especially for STL) but the security and residents are top notch and I always feel safe. Plus there is a doorman and maintenance staff, that have always been helpful and efficient, in my experience.

Convenient, safe, and lots of SLU students in the building!
While you can find cheaper or cooler apartments elsewhere, the convenience of PP is unmatched. Whether it’s super hot or super cold, you just have to walk across the street. It is also very safe and secure, and the appliances and everything are well kept and updated. The gym is great too. Small, but hardly anyone is ever up there. It may drive you nuts being so close to school, but I got used to it! Even when my room faced the blue glow of SLU at night.

Park Pacific Great for Law Students
The Park Pacific staff has created a welcoming environment for students, professionals, and families alike. We enjoy the walkability from the apartment and the amenities (e.g. gym, doorman, covered parking). It is a perfect place to live if you are planning to study all the time. There is very little noise and you can often pet a dog when on a study break.

UNSAFE
Although this is the closest apartment to SLU Law, it is by far the most unsafe. I personally experienced a break-in while I was home, and management placed the blame on me. This was not an isolated incident. Break-ins continue to happen, averaging one or two per month, and management continues to blame residents. Management also does not inform building residents when break-ins occur, further posing safety risks. They tout safety when you tour the apartment, even claiming that two "on-call" police officers live in the building. This is blatantly false information. There is no security personnel whatsoever. The security cameras are not monitored, and neither are the entries and exits to the building. When a pipe burst in the winter, it left 30-40 apartments displaced and without internet for days. maintenance was unresponsive and management again placed blame on residents, despite the pipe being reported for months leading up to the burst. The fire alarm goes off about once a week, day or night, and management refuses to address the issue. washer and dryers leave grease marks and ruin clothes, and instead of providing you with a new washer or dryer, maintenance simply gives you a different old one, and you have the same problem in another month. All of the positive reviews about this building online are either old or solicited by management for rent credits. In addition, there are 20-30 units in this building allocated to Airbnb rentals. This creates additional safety concerns, as well as noise and the smell of marijuana at all hours of the day and night. Park Pacific is renting them for as low as $45 per night, so the clientele attracted is not ideal for a safe and studious environment. On top of this, Park Pacific gave residents no information about leasing the units through Airbnb, further disregarding resident safety. For 6 months, all four elevators have never operated. Residents continue to get stuck on elevators and management has never contracted an actual elevator company to come fix the elevators.
I cannot stress enough how unsafe this building truly is. The last thing you want in law school is additional stress, and all this building and management causes is stress and genuine concern for your safety. I highly encourage you to live a couple blocks away from the law school in a safer environment.

Clean Units, Reliable Management, Some Minor Annoyances
OVERVIEW:
I lived in Park Pacific for 3 years. Overall, I liked living here because it was close to school and work, I felt safe in my unit, the unit was quiet, and found myself close to a grocery store, gym, and parks. I disliked the dishwasher, lack of storage, and the dangerous feel of the neighborhood.
RENT:
I believe that the advertised prices for Park Pacific are slightly too high for the neighborhood. The building is historic and the common areas are kept in good shape, but outside of the lobby, I would not classify the building as luxurious.
Rent includes WiFi, extended basic cable, and water. Parking is included, but you must pay extra for a reserved spot. Because management rents out many spaces to SLU students, parking can be really difficult to find Monday - Thursday during the day during non-COVID times. However, the convenience of being across the street from school was worth the prices.
MANAGEMENT:
Management is fairly accessible and are easy to work with. While they did not respond to all emails I sent over the 3 years I lived there, if it was something important, they responded. Generally speaking, I think they care about the residents and want to do a good job.
The doormen, garage staff, and maintenance team were fantastic. All my maintenance requests were hastily taken care of. The doormen are easy to work with, are easy to get ahold of, and do a good job managing package deliveries. You can rest assured you will receive your mail and packages. Management is very pet-friendly.
BUILDING:
The rooftop, lobby, and 22nd floor common areas are kept in great condition. They recently renovated the gym and it looks great. The hallways on the residential floors can be dirty and are a stark contrast to the rest of the building. It often smells like trash or food, there are scuffs and dings all over the walls, and the carpet is dirty and needs to be replaced. Not all residents appropriate deal with the trash, which contributes to the smell. I never noticed the smell of the hallway in my unit. They are in the process of cleaning up the hallways but it seems this process may take a few years.
The residents of the building are largely SLU students and younger professionals working in the area. There were very few families in the building, and from my experience, this is not really an ideal place for young kids. The amenities are direct towards adults. As a result, I never had issues with children running around or making a lot of noise.
UNITS:
The units are nice and clean. I never saw a bug in my apartment, much to my cat's dismay. When I moved in, my unit had been cleaned and was in good shape. They had re-painted before I moved in. Management seems to keep things updated and in working condition. For being 10 years old, most everything still looked new.
I almost never needed to use climate control. My apartment stayed around 72 F in the winter and summer. It would get a little toasty in there if I ran my dryer for a few hours, but outside of that, the unit was cheap to heat/cool. (For reference, in my small studio, I paid about $65 a month in electricity.)
WiFi was OK. When many people were on it at once (usually 6PM to 10PM), if could run a little slow. However, you can pay AT&T extra to get a faster speed than what is included for free in your rent.
The units are pretty standard and include a washer/dryer and a dishwasher. I dislike the extremely loud dishwasher. This compliant seems to be pretty standard amongst other residents. (It is so loud that I only run it when I am gone. Otherwise, it keeps me from sleeping and drowns out the sounds of the TV.) The microwave is great. The stove top is electric. The stove takes a long time to preheat and it seems to take a little longer than usual to bake, but the foods always cooks evenly. I loved my washer/dryer. It was the best one I ever had! The units do not all have the same washer/dryer brand though.

Living close to the school is always nice. Having parking next to the school is additionally nice.
Living next to 4-5 separate court houses is valuable and can be utilized for viewing and experience.
Be prepared for city living: it is loud all the time (cars, horns, sirens), people are always around, you are far from a Wal mart, and the parking garage is small.

Park Pacific
Overall, the apartment is very convenient for attending SLU Law. It is nice to be able to leave my apartment and be in a classroom within about 5 minutes. It is also nice living in a building with so many other law students, as it is nice to be able to hang out, pregame events, etc.
However, Park Pacific has many of the problems of all city apartments. The main thing is that you have to deal with seeing a whole lot of homeless people around the building, and the occassional car gets broken into.
With that being said, I think I am happy I chose this building. The convenience to SLU and the social aspect makes up for some of the shortfalls.
