Descent Place to live for a year
Overall BJB Properties was a good experience. There were 2 main things that annoyed me about my studio apartment. 1 - There was very little sunlight. Many of the units face the east but the hospital blocks all of the sun, making the small studio apartments like a cave. 2 - There was always a smell of smoke and weed in the hallway. The apartment doesn't allow smoking anywhere (per the lease) but they apparently never enforced it.
There is a front desk person from 5-1am so overall it feels pretty safe.

Pretty Good
I like the location the best, but the price is a little high. We are right next to bars, restaurants, and grocery stores. One negative is that there is no parking. The management is very responsive and respect their tenants very much. So overall a good experience.

Good!
I found this place when I needed it quickly, the leasing office was very helpful with the process and the managment has being great. Every time there's a complaint, they always find a way to make it better. The only thing is that the apartments in the property are very small which intails me listening to everything that's going on with the neighboor (but thats what you get for leaving in a city apartment). Otherwise, good place to live, great neighborhood, close to work, etc. Couldn't ask for more!

Lakeview Reviews
It has numerous sub-neighborhoods, including the super bro-y Wrigleyville and the still queer Boystown. It has a mix of lower income co-op housing and slowly dying out SRO housing with luxury condos and high rises.
The area is generally safe, though the occasional mugging does occur and bar fights happen closer to the stadium on the regular.
The neighborhood is often loud and bustling with people, with hospitals on both ends (St. Jo's and Advocate to the south and Thorek to the north) so a lot of ambient ambulance and fire truck noise is normal, plus sounds from people going to and from the many bars and restaurants lining Broadway, Belmont, Halsted, and Clark. Festivals draw neighbors into the streets and block traffic frequently during the summer, including Pride, Market Days, Lakeview Arts Fest, and others.
