Perfect for a grad student who wants to live in center city with a 20 minute walk to the Penn campus! Good value but no frills on the building.

Love the neighborhood! If you're interested in being close to the center of the city and being able to actively explore Philly (for a not extreme price) it was great! Also was easy to get to my school - University of Pennsylvania. 15-20 mins to get to school by transit; 30 mins walking.
That being said I did notice that most students lived on the side of the school!

The beautiful tree-filled neighborhood is full of families, dogs, and students - it is safe, full of great restaurants, and boasts an equally quick walk to both University City and downtown attractions. The immediate access to the Schuylkill River Trail also can't be beat. While we lack apartment amenities, we love living in a historical brownstone that has charm and character. This is an area where you can live as a student and stay for another 20 years after that.
Great neighborhood, though expensive for Philly. If you're a Penn grad student who wants to be near campus but not on campus, it's ideal for distance from school and the Rittenhouse area. Lots of parks and residents are friendly.
There are residents without housing in the neighborhood. They're good people and new residents should be respectful of them and their belongings.

It is close to many stores, fairly close to the Schuylkill River Park and walking and biking trail, and Rittenhouse Square Park. There are many stores very nearby with a small convenience store across the street for last-minute items.
One of my favorite parts was making new friends while hopping on the uber through #2116_uber Slack channel. Also, it's an easy walk to campus and a few stops away. You really can't go wrong living here.
The fitler square/rittenhouse area is very safe and has many restaurants/activites. I have really enjoyed living there. It is also not too far from campus, only about a 25-30 minute walk.
Hard to judge the neighborhood because exploration has been limited due to COVID - but overall not bad. Some crime alerts but nothing that has necessarily made me feel unsafe.
Walking distance to literally everything - Penn/CHOP, bars/restaurants/cafes, stores, Trader Joe's, parks, the 33rd street station, buses and trains, the Schuylkill River..
