Highs and Lows

The staff is really helpful at Connecticut Heights. I also really enjoy being able to use the gym. There is a beautiful workspace for residents if I ever want to get work done outside of my apartment. The neighborhood feels safe enough (I walk my dog several times a day, though I still make sure to be aware of my surroundings).

When I first moved in, I had to handle a roach problem. It seemed building-wide. Although the staff was very good about being responsive and being empathetic to my needs, it took over a month (and 2-3 treatments) for the roach problem to improve.

Good location & nice staff, but older buildings need cleaning

My unit is in one of the 4 older buildings at CT Heights. My building and the other older ones do have on-and-off pest issues, and the older buildings' hallways/common areas need more frequent cleaning.

That said, the concierge, maintenance, and leasing-office staff have always been friendly and helpful. Overall, I've enjoyed living in this apartment. If you're looking for a quiet neighborhood near AU on the Red line, CT Heights is worth a look.

Excellent apartment service

A very good experience overall in living at Connecticut Heights. All service needs are tended to very quickly. Excellent, friendly concierge staff. Comfortable apartment with a great layout and large counterspace. Very satisfied overall.

Don’t live in Building 5

Building 5 has a major Roach issue that management has refused to do anything about. Also, their service requests are never their best effort. They would rather fix something temporarily then work on longterm solutions. We are currently transferring to building 4 and hope we will have a better experience.

Management is incompetent and never responds to request. Location is great and I love my apartment but the building is old and not well maintained. It's close to transit, grocery stores, AU and utilities are included so that's a plus. But there's issues with the building.

Connecticut Heights Apartments

I live in the main building (building 5) where the leasing office and concierge are. I love it here and it's fairly quiet. However, I have not heard good things about their other buildings. I have heard some of those buildings have roaches and stuff, but I've never had the issue.

Maintenance usually comes and fixes any issues within a couple days. They don't follow the 24-hour policy they say they have, but they are still fairly quick.

It's also a very popular student apartment complex. Very young people (I'm in the law school and we know of 11 law students who live in the complex).

Comfortable living

I've had a very good experience with management. They are prompt to respond to and fix any issues in the apartment. They were also very understanding in the renting process, and remain very open to any questions that I have at any time.

Good Price (in pre-COVID times) but you get what you pay for

My experience at Connecticut Heights has been fine. We had a major roach problem over the summer, but they were mostly responsive and it has improved. The price is good, and the amenities like the pool and gym are great. Great proximity to AU. Metro is a little far and the walk back from the grocery store is up hill.

Connecticut Heights

The apartment experience has generally been pretty great. The leasing office staff are friendly and helpful and work requests are addressed in a timely manner. The front desk isn’t the most organized when it comes to tracking packages, but I haven’t had any major issues. The apartment has lots of natural light, is a great price for it’s location, and is easy walking distance to Whole Foods, Target, Giant, the AU shuttle at Tenleytown and lots of restaurants.

Expensive but priced fairly

Love this apartment despite the high price tag. Dog friendly, very safe neighborhood and QUIET. There are only 2 laundry machines and dryer per floor but I have yet to have much of an issue using the machines. If you want to be in the city without (an even) higher price tag, dog friendly, and quiet this is a good option. Not a lot of diversity in the neighborhood but never felt uncomfortable.

Getting around Van Ness

Van Ness Reviews

10 reviews
It's very quiet and residential, but close to Tenleytown and Cleveland Park bars and restaurants.
It’s not the most exciting neighborhood, and there’s no nightlife. But it’s safe, easily walkable to everything you need, and has lots of green space.
Haven't had any issues in the neighborhood. Everything is fairly quiet. Almost too quiet if you are a city person.
The neighborhood, although it has a few restaurants, is pretty dull and boring.
Van Ness is a great neighborhood.
Safe, safe safe! I can walk at night and I have never felt unsafe. very residential area so not a TON of restaurants/bars, but very close to the grocery store. Quiet and lots of families.
The area where Devonshire Court is located is definitely "up and coming." Cathedral Heights is not too far (about a 10min walk) and the Giant grocery store has a bar! So fun to grocery shop now. Great restaurants nearby, tons of bus lines, and the post office is next door.
The area is quite suburban, especially off connecticut avenue. Plenty of parks and green space, which makes it great for pets. There are a few cafes, but no nightlife to speak of, and nearby grocery stores are definitely smaller and dated.
