Updated building on a quiet corner

I have absolutely loved living at Pine Grove Court. The building maintenance is fantastic, and the roof top deck is gorgeous. They also decorate for every holiday, and make the courtyard very festive! My apartment is updated but still has a beautiful vintage charm. The whole building is pretty quiet, and I almost never hear a peep from my neighbors. The only downside is no central air or dishwasher/disposal, but overall I love Pine Grove Court.

Lakeview has plenty of beautiful, tree-lined neighborhoods and a robust bar and restaurant scene. It is a destination neighborhood with tons of boutiques, Wrigley Field, and a welcoming environment. I chose to live here because I am gay and wanted to have very easy, direct access to the lakefront path for running and biking.
The main reason we moved here was the neighborhood. Broadway, Clark, Diversey and Belmont are all within walking distance and offer all of the shops, restaurants, bars and grocery stores you could need. It really is in a prime, unbeatable location. Not to mention it's a block from Lake Michigan and walking distance to Lincoln Park and a short bike ride from Montrose Beach.
My street and neighborhood are usually fairly quiet. Sundays seem to be the going out day in the neighborhood but it isn't disruptive to my every day life. Overall it seems like a very safe area and being a young woman living alone, that is very important. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
The area of lakeview this apartment is in is between where the bars start in Wrigleyville at Clark and Sheffield and Boystown at Newport and Halstead. The street itself is pretty quiet but there are plenty of options for bars since it's right near Wrigley Field and Boystown. There are also plenty of great restaurant options, and it's a 6 minute walk to the Addison red line or a 10 minute walk to the Belmont stop.
I love Lakeview! There's honestly something for everyone somewhere in the neighborhood. From Wrigleyville's baseball and country bars to the rowdy drag shows of Boystown, you can have a totally new experience a few blocks from something else. Lots of great food for both a quick, cheap meal and a sit-down dinner, and some fun local shopping too.
There are a bunch of different places to choose from if you want to eat out. It is located right by Wrigley Field, so you can actually hear concerts/baseball games if the wind blows in the right direction! A lot of young people live in this neighborhood. Located right by Boys Town. A bunch of different grocery stores nearby- Jewel even has a parking garage if you want to drive! Very close to Public Transit - Red/Brown/Purple line & Buses. Noise level is moderate. Walgreens is a 2 minute walk away if you need milk/eggs or medication immediately. Wish there were more coffee shops, but there are only a few.
Lakeview is a strange neighborhood seeing slow change due to continued popularity and ongoing gentrification. What used to be a low-middle income area full of LGBT people and ethnic minorities is becoming more white bread and upper middle class.

It has numerous sub-neighborhoods, including the super bro-y Wrigleyville and the still queer Boystown. It has a mix of lower income co-op housing and slowly dying out SRO housing with luxury condos and high rises.

The area is generally safe, though the occasional mugging does occur and bar fights happen closer to the stadium on the regular.

The neighborhood is often loud and bustling with people, with hospitals on both ends (St. Jo's and Advocate to the south and Thorek to the north) so a lot of ambient ambulance and fire truck noise is normal, plus sounds from people going to and from the many bars and restaurants lining Broadway, Belmont, Halsted, and Clark. Festivals draw neighbors into the streets and block traffic frequently during the summer, including Pride, Market Days, Lakeview Arts Fest, and others.
Lakeview has a great bar/restaurant scene, but it is very congested. I dread Pride Weekend every year, and I won't go near the Clark/Addison area if I can help it. I like being close to the lake and multiple bus routes, as well as number full-service grocery stores.
