Worth it

7 management rating Reviewed by on

Paying a premium for location and it can get a little noisy with ambulances being near the hospital. It's a clean building with a lot of space and a receptive management. Utilities are very cheap on top of rent but parking is a bit over-priced. Overall recommend it if you are living alone and want to live in CWE.

I enjoyed living here, even under quarantine

GOOD: Excellent location (right on Forest Park, in the Central West End, quick drive to the law school)! Spacious living space. Overall, quite a comfortable place to live. Covered parking lot is available. Laundry is a shared facility in basement.

BAD: Loud road noise (ambulances) at all hours. Property management is not always perfectly responsive with maintenance requests. Covered parking lot is often poorly organized (narrow driving space, lines poorly painted, cars can feel cramped).

Not perfect, but pretty good

The building is nicer on the inside than it looks on the outside. Laundry can be a bit annoying because the machines can get loud and you have to make sure to find a time when no one else is using them. Further, there are a handful of loud neighbors (mostly loud kids and parents). Lastly, the parking lot can be a bit tight. Other than that, it is a nice place. The people are friendly, the halls are clean, and many of the maintenance staff live in the building, making service requests easier. As it pertains to noise, I would say its quiet about 90% of the time. The 10% really stands out, but it is certainly not frequent. This may be eliminated completely depending on your neighbors.

Okay apartment

Appliances aren’t all that new but you get a pretty decent sized apartment for what you pay for and the neighborhood is nice. Management is okay, responds to things fairly quickly.

Windermere House Review

I enjoy living at Windermere House. The desk staff is helpful. While things did break in the apartment, maintenance fixed these issues promptly. It is spacious and while electricity is not included, Com Ed (which will provide your electricity) is super cheap. I secured covered parking across the street too. There is a gym (not amazing but weights, pull-up bar, mats, treadmill). 5 min walk to Trader Joes. It's a 25 min walk to the law school and close to Shoreland and the bus stop to get to school. Only con is the lack of lighting /pretty window views in our apartment.

Okay for a short term

6 management rating Reviewed by on

I decided to live in this apartment because many classmates from my program traditionally live here. Because many people live in this apartment, the elevators are slow and packages get lost sometimes. I see some criminal reports inside and outside of this building. The location is very convenient for grocery shopping and transportation to school and downtown, but I will not choose here if you will be here for a long term.

Overpriced but convenient

Lots of students live here - management and neighbors are nice. Laundry, utilities, parking, location all super convenient. You can definitely find cheaper and better quality housing in Hyde Park, but for busy grad students the convenience is worth it for us.

Passable

The space is good, the amenities in the apartment are nice, and rent is about as low as you can get in Hyde Park for a high-rise building. However, management is not willing to resolve issues and the location is just fine.

Convenient and extraordinarily beautiful view

10 management rating Reviewed by on

I really like my apartment in general. My favorite part is the view. I took a corner apartment at the South Tower and wake up everyday to see the sunrise in Lake Michigan from huge windows at my room and the living room. I am not sure I will ever live in a place with such an amazing view.

The building has everything you need; gym, market, package room, concierge. In winter, when it is freezing outside, this is very convenient. Also, most of our class lives here, so we go to dinners, parties and reunions without going out of the building.

Another very convenient part of regents is transportation. In the spring quarter we had an LLM class at 8:15 am and we all met in the bus stop and went in the 172 to class together. It was kind of a high school bus experience. :-D. The 6, which goes to downtown, is also available in that stop.

Good but still need to pay attention to the community safety

It is an ideal place to live in the Hyde Park near to the University, but I would choose to live in the loop considering the safety.

Property is fine, but I don't like the staff

The staff are not responsive at all. They always send wrong invoices for rent every month. Also they do not respond to calls or do their jobs in relation to billings.

Great view

8 management rating Reviewed by on

Apartments at Regents have the best view of the neighborhood. Besides, they are located just besides the bus stop for the University. The amenities are amazing and definitely save a lot of time and money, especially in the winter, when you won't want to go looking for gyms outside. Everything is sorted out for you: internet, cable, etc. and you're apartment is fully equipped with all of what you need (dishwashers, stove, microwave, oven, fridge).

City Hyde Park - Overall good, except the rent

8 management rating Reviewed by on

The apartment is clean and spacious. The management is good as well. Location is good, as it is both near to law school, near to other apartments the classmates live, and also right above the supermarket.
The only downside is the monthly rent, which is very expensive compared to other buildings.
